At a shophouse – Baby photography at home

Larissa hired me to photograph her 3 month baby boy a few weeks ago, at their shophouse in the East of Singapore. Shophouses are beautiful but can be dark inside which makes it difficult to photograph using natural light. As always I mapped out the photo session a few days before the shoot making sure we focussed on the rooms with enough natural light or shooting outdoors.

The first photograph below was achieved by placing Lorkin on the floor directly in front of the open front door. We placed a white blanket underneath him as he was just starting to lift his head and we didn’t want any nasty bumps. The blanket also acts as a reflector removing any shadows under his eyes or nose.
