Mixed emotions: Family Photography at the studio

Suellen and her family came to the studio a few weeks ago for a session. The star of the day was without a doubt her 3 year old daughter, Kaelyn. When I asked about Kaelyn’s personality a week before the session her Mum told me that she would initially be a little shy but would soon warm up and would probably be very bubbly and full of energy as the session went on. I structured the session so that we started with just natural light shots, so that Kaelyn wouldn’t be too overwhelmed. Once I’d tried a few of my party tricks she soon opened up. You can see from the progression of the photos below how Kaelyn got more and more comfortable with her surroundings. For me a session like this is ideal, we managed to get a whole range of emotions from her; from a shy little girl holding onto her daddy’s arm to a bubbly little girl doing her own independent thing in the family shot. I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I do.
