I love being a family and baby photographer in Singapore; I get to meet such great children (and adults!) every week. While a lot of my recent work has been at my photo studio, I was invited by Claire a few weeks ago to photograph her 3 children at their family home. For photo sessions with young children or toddlers I like to spend the first 10-20 minutes chatting to them in their bedroom; looking at their toys or playing word games with them. This usually gets them more relaxed and tends to lead to more natural looking shots when I start taking photos.
On my pre-session visit I had noticed a nice floor standing mirror in the living room and thought it might have potential for a decent image with their little girl, Isla. So when I was chatting to Isla in her bedroom I showed her the “magic” mirror I had brought with me (also known as a reflector) and mentioned that I had seen her magic mirror downstairs. Later on in the session we had fun shouting “mirror, mirror on the wall….who is the fairest of them all?” as Isla looked into it. The image below is my favourite from the session.
